Today is the first time it has in all of human recorded history, that is has rained in San Francisco on a July 18th. We have a total of .01 inches so far and here are the results from SFist:
The .01 inches of rain that's fallen has, naturally, rendered swaths of the East Bay without power, with 40 separate outages and about 10,000 in El Cerrito, Berkeley, and El Cerrito affected. Basically, the dust on top of the transformers get wet, turns into mud, and the low levels of rain are insufficient to wash off the mud, so the mud gets trapped in the transformer and the transformer shorts out. (A power line is also down at Ashby and MLK. Wow, .01" of rain can take down a power line?)Thanks to SFist.com
I get a lot of email. According to my computer I get over 100 spam messages a day. Every now and then I peruse these messages just to make sure I am not missing anything. So now I present to you:
