The opposite of inspiration

Checkout Woot for this silly photo contest mocking the inspirational posters most of us have seen around the office. Perosnally, the sub's inspirational decor is strictly limited a picture of a kitten grasping a branch with the words "hang in there" wirtten underneath.

Shark Bite!

Shark Bite!
Originally uploaded by Sub Commander.
My super double top secret mission has come to an end, and it was a huge success. Due to the secret nature of the trip I cannot reveal much more, but I did get a nice souvenir I can share with you. While performing a dive outside of the sub, I got a love bite from a shark. Pretty picture eh? You should have seen it four days ago! Anyway, it is safe to say that I dined on fresh shark that night.

For now I am back, but swamped by all the paperwork and reports I have to file regarding my secret mission. (Being a sub commander is not all "Flood torpedo tube 1," and "Up periscope" fun. I have TPS reports too.) Expect more updates from the sub next week.

DIVE DIVE DIVE!

Well kids, yours truly has been called out on a super, double-top secret mission. I am taking the sub down deep and going radio silent for a few days. Take care while I am gone and I will send any updates, if I can.

This is the Sub Commander, signing out!

For the lazy alcoholic...

I like to drink, but I am lazy. I especially hate having to wash TWO GLASSES every time I enjoy a shot and a chaser at home. This is especially frustrating on the sub since space is at a premium. (When I surface and enjoy a drink at the pub this is not a problem because beautiful women like Peggy take care of that for me.)

Thank goodness Quaffer came to my rescue. They developed the shot glass + chaser combo. When you are done you only have one glass to wash. Finally, I can drink in peace.

Who's your Daddy?

Superman

Sorry for the lack of recent posts, but the Sub has been too deep for me to transmit recently. That only means you will get a plethora of updates today!

On Oct 3, Nicholas Cage became the proud father of a baby boy. Not too big of a deal until you see his son's name - Kal-El (Superman's name as given by his parents on Krypton)

According to Wikipedia,
Superman was born Kal-El on the planet Krypton. He was sent to Earth in a rocket by his scientist father Jor-El moments before Krypton exploded, landing on Earth outside the town of Smallville, where he was discovered and adopted by the amiable Jonathan and Martha Kent...
All I can say is that it sure beats naming your child "Apple."

My name is Inigo Montoya...

You have to love The Princess Bride. And soon you will be able to sing your favorite scenes with The Princess Bride, the musical.

INCONCEIVABLE! But true.

Well, it was a big weekend for yours truly as my airborne brethren, the Blue Angels, were in town. I parked the sub in San Francisco Bay and watched these hotshots do al sorts of fancy tricks in their flying machines. The show was so good I even climbed up on land to make the video here. Make sure your speakers are on to get the full roar of the jet engine. Those boys are loud!

In sader Batman news, I heard on the radio this morning that the fires in Sourthern California burnt the mansion they filmed as the original Wayne Manor for theTV series. So sad.

UPDATE False alarm - Wayne Manor is still standing. It was the neighboring house that burnt down. Batman is safe. Read more at Reuters.

I actually had to remove some of them from this picture because they have not yet been released.

Oh the perils of the Non-Disclosure Agreement.

Moss gathers Stone???

A rolling Stone gathers no Moss?

A snorting Stone gathers more Moss?

A Sharon Stone gathers Kate Moss?

Sharon Stone has come to Kate Moss' defense after she lost several of her contracts due to alledged cocaine use.

Quicksand is REAL!

QUICKSAND !!!

Straight from Boing Boing who found it in the New York Times!
"Hit with sudden force from, say, a hapless victim, the quicksand gel turns to liquid. Then salt causes clay particles to stick to one another instead of the sand grains, with the result that a victim ends up surrounded by densely packed sand.

The force needed to pull out a person immersed in quicksand is about the same needed to lift a car, (University of Amsterdam physicist Daniel) Bonn said. The trick for escaping is to slowly wiggle the feet and legs, allowing water to flow in."
The little kid in me wants to go find some now and throw things in to watch them sink.

OH MY BLOG!

There was something I was supposed to do. What was it? Flood the torpedo bays? No. Get my results from the clinic? Niet. Clear the ballast tanks? Nope. Update my BLOG?

YES!!!

I have been busy on the sub and the Web has been boring so I have not had much to write. Real-life has been more exciting especially when they build a ski-jump on Fillmore Street in October! I was not there because... because... because I was working from home. Yeah, that's it! I was working from home. But someone ELSE caught these video clips. They are small, but still cool to watch.
