New Job!

Hey gang,

I got a new job so I won't be posting very often. I have new things to learn, new people to meet and an unlimited supply of free coffee. In honor of my new gig, here is a collection of scenes featuring Michael Scott from the office saying his favorite joke.

Mom of the Year

You know you are old when you start cheering for the parents. This mom is in the lead for 2008 MOTY. Check it out:
My 13 year old managed to break the vacuum....thinking it would release him from that duty. He also has a list of other chores that were TYPED up for him to do Friday afternoon....one thing on the list was done...mind you these are simple things...empty the trash, clean your room, etc. Then I go thru the cookies on his computer and find out he has been checking out porn sites. Now there is a password so he can't even get on and his my-space page has a picture of snoopy on it now. Apparently I'm the meanest mom in the world, were his words.

I'm a single mom. I can't let them walk over me or I might never get up.
Got to love her. Read more at Gizmodo.

G33K to the Nth Degree

I used to play Super Mario Bros. I used to race RC cars. I never dreamed to put the two together.

Oh Boy Danny

A belated Happy St. Patrick's Day from the sub.

Too Many Robots!

I have always been one to present both sides of the story, so I thought it was only fair to share this video after my last post on Robots. Enjoy.

Embracing your inner geek

Part of being a geek is admitting it and owning it. I mean outright living the lifestyle. Part of this for me was naming my computer. I thought long and hard, and finally named my Mac after Marvin from the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

But I could not stop there. My external hard drive / back-up is "Don't Panic," the mantra of the Hitchhikers Guide.

My iPod and USB drive are named Laserbeak and Ravage respectfully.

And finally, there is my digital camera, R2D2.

Geeky? Yes. Fun? Hell yes!

Quote of the day

From Easter Sunday brunch, my friend Liz had the quote of the day:
"Bacon is a gateway meat."
Follow that up with the Diesel Sweeties shirt:
"Bacon is a vegetable."
I think I am going to cook some bacon now.

Toys of Our Times

This is a real toy - the Playmobil Security Check-Point. You can read about it on Amazon.

While the toy is disturbing enough, some Amazon shoppers have had fun in the comments.

Here is a sample.
I was a little disappointed when I first bought this item, because the functionality is limited. My 5 year old son pointed out that the passenger's shoes cannot be removed. Then, we placed a deadly fingernail file underneath the passenger's scarf, and neither the detector doorway nor the security wand picked it up. My son said "that's the worst security ever!". But it turned out to be okay, because when the passenger got on the Playmobil B757 and tried to hijack it, she was mobbed by a couple of other heroic passengers, who only sustained minor injuries in the scuffle, which were treated at the Playmobil Hospital.

See the toy and read more reviews here.

Food Fight

This is the History of WAR from WWII to present. Each nation is represented by food.

Germany - Pretzels and Sausage
UK - Fish and Chips
France - Pastries
US - Hamburgers, French Fries and Nuggets
and so on.

It is funny and moving. Enjoy!
